The producers asked for a short video of Jessica acting and MMA. She sent them a video on the next day that showed herself sword fighting. After reading the script, Jessica was aware that the character will require training in weapons as well as a first session with a professional. Jonathan Glassner says that her stunt team was pleasantly surprised by how well she did in her first class. Her previous films were all in Australia. The Outpost was her first major film in America. Jessica's mix martial art skills, horseback riding, weapons capabilities and athletic skills allow her to pull off stunts portraying the tough woman. She has studied boxing and muay Thai, and trains at an academy for mixed martial arts in Australia. Jake Stormoen saw an animal roaming the set for filming Season 4 while on set. The pet was part of the litter of stray puppies who were living on set. Jessica fostered at least two of the pups.
